The Black Eyed Susans represent my past. As the Maryland State flower, its symbolism of hope and resilience brings me back to my childhood in Maryland. Through my work, I often consider the significance of where I have come from and how it has influenced me. Through the process of painting the flowers, I was reminded of the path I took to get to where I am today.
